MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Police Department is asking the public's help to reunite a lost dog found with its owner.
A sergeant at MPD’s West District heard barking in the station lobby and discovered a dog inside on Monday.
Video footage shows two people dropping the dog off at around 7:55 p.m. It remains unclear whether they were the dog’s owner or someone hoping to help.
The dog lacked any identifying collar, tag, or microchip, making it difficult to trace its owner.
An MPD officer has taken the dog home temporarily.
Public Health Madison and Dane County Animal Services and the Dane County Humane Society have also been alerted.
Anyone claiming ownership must contact MPD and be ready to provide proof of ownership.
