NORTH PROVIDENCE – Endorsed Democrat Nicholas Feola stormed to an easy victory in Tuesday's special election for Town Council in District 2.

Feola, son of former Town Councilor Steve Feola and supported by others on the council, easily defeated a pair of independents, former Councilor Joe Giammarco and Brian Quirk.

According to the Rhode Island Board of Elections website, he took home 660 votes, or 81.38 percent of the total, to 108 votes for Giammarco, at 13.32 percent, and 43 votes for Quirk, or 5.3 percent.

Feola will fill the seat previously occupied by Stefano Famiglietti, who won the special election for Senate District 4 to replace former Senate President Dominick Ruggerio.
