We all know the Jets need a new quarterback in 2026. And through the first three months of the college football season, the eyes of all Jets fans and general manager Darren Mougey, have been affixed on the top prospects including two who will be playing this weekend’s conference championship games: Alabama’s Ty Simpson and Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza.
But amid all the understandable chatter about the Jets’ need for a quarterback, it’s easy to forget that they have other major needs. The Jets cornerback room, which was arguably the best in the league a year ago, needs talent with Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, and Michael Carter II all on different teams. And defensive tackle was already thin, even before the Jets traded Quinnen Willliams away.
