BROOK PARK, Ohio - Cleveland City Council’s approval this week of a deal that eliminates Cleveland’s formal opposition to the Browns’ move to Brook Park represented a milestone for the team’s plans for a new indoor stadium. But it’s not the last issue that has to be settled.
There are still two court cases outside the city’s control, plus the need to formally strike a deal with the city of Brook Park for creation of a community authority to own the new facility, manage the lease and oversee broader site development.
Yet the Browns say they remain on target to begin major construction on the stadium site next year and have the facility ready for the start of the 2029 NFL season.
It’s possible the remaining hurdles could be resolved within the next couple of months.
