COCONINO COUNTY, Ariz. — Overnight lodging at Grand Canyon National Park will temporarily close Dec. 6 due to water restrictions.
Park officials said overnight accommodations will be halted at El Tovar, Bright Angel Lodge, Maswik Lodge, Yavapai Lodge and Trailer Village due to a series of significant breaks in the Transcanyon Waterline. No water is currently being pumped to the South Rim.
"The goal is to restore full operational status for overnight guests on the South Rim as quickly as possible," park officials wrote in a statement.
Hotels located outside of the park in the town of Tusayan will not be affected by the temporary restrictions.
