The National Weather Service warns Hoosiers they should prepare for extreme cold starting on the evening of Dec. 3, as an arctic cold front moves across northern Midwest states and into Indiana.
The cold air and strong winds are expected to drop temperatures below zero in a large portion of Northern Indiana and parts of Central Indiana, according to the NWS .
"The main thing people should worry about is going to be the wind chills. They're going to be below zero," said Matthew Eckhoff, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. "Daybreak Thursday is when the coldest temperatures will arrive."
Meteorologists warn that anyone who plans to spend time outside should dress in layers and reduce their exposure to the cold conditions to a minimum. For unhoused people,
