COLUMBUS — Empowered for Excellence Behavioral Health of Ohio owes the Ohio Department of Medicaid approximately $1.87 million due to improper Medicaid payments over a three-year period, according to a new compliance examination released by the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office.
State auditors identified more than $1.75 million in improper Medicaid payments to the Toledo-based organization from Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2023, Auditor of State Keith Faber and Chief Deputy Auditor Tiffany Ridenbaugh said in a report released Tuesday. With added interest, state auditors’ recommended repayment amount is $1.87 million.
The Ohio Department of Medicaid and/or the Ohio Attorney General’s Office are responsible for taking action to gain compliance and recoup any inappropriate or excess payments.
