Yesterday, the New Orleans Saints waived WR Kevin Austin Jr. and OT Barry Wesley, which opened up two more spots on the active roster. With many options on the current practice squad, the Saints could have gone in a bunch of different directions. In the end, WR Dante Pettis and G William Sherman were signed to the active roster.

Since the departure of WR Rashid Shaheed, Pettis has become one of the primary kick returners and the punter returner for the Saints. He has not had much success, and WR Mason Tipton actually looks like the better kick returner, but Pettis has also not fumbled any punts, which is positive. Pettis has also come in at WR throughout games, so this may be a way we see more of him on some plays.
