A Forestville grandmother just proved that when it comes to the Maryland Lottery’s Jurassic Park ticket, life really does find a way.
Angela Martinez-Gomez walked into Lottery headquarters in Baltimore this week with the kind of smile that would make even a T. rex back up a few steps.
The Prince George’s County resident had scanned her Jurassic Park scratch-off and learned it was worth a roaring $50,000.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Martinez-Gomez said on Tuesday, Dec. 2, after claiming her windfall at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The beloved grandmother bought and scanned the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 3004 Forestville Road in Prince George’s County, she said.
The store gets a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize winner.
Maryland Lottery officials say the $5 Jurassic Park ticket launched in September with six top prizes of $50,000.
Martinez-Gomez is the third person to claim one, joining players from Washington, DC and Elkridge.
Three more $50,000 prizes are still out there, along with tens of thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
As for her plans, the grandmother is keeping it grounded: she will use her prize money on dental work and to purchase gifts for her grandchildren, with the holidays fast approaching
Non-winning Jurassic Park scratch-offs can be entered into My Lottery Rewards for entries into the second-chance promotion for a trip to Oahu, Hawaii, where winners will get a chance to play the $1,000,000 Jackpot Challenge for a seven-figure prize.
