SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) said a baby has been safely surrendered under Daniel’s Law in Spartanburg County.
Officials said the baby boy was born on Sunday at Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital and weighed seven pounds and three ounces. He was 20 inches long at the time of birth.
According to DSS, the infant was safely surrendered under the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act on the same day of his birth and Spartanburg County DSS took custody of the child. A medical evaluation was completed and the baby was placed in a licensed foster home.
A Permanency Planning Hearing and Termination of Parental Rights Hearing will be held on Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Spartanburg County Family Court, located at 180 Magnolia Street.
