It was a busy week for the Wetaskiwin Icemen.
The team travelled to Beaumont for a Tuesday night game against the Chiefs that saw them battle hard for the 4-2 win.
“That was one of our better 60-minute efforts,” said Icemen coach Marc Gagnon. “We definitely won the special teams battle.”
Gagnon said the Icemen were three for three on the powerplay and a perfect five for five on the penalty kill.
“Overall, the team defence was good.”
The win in Beaumont meant the team had won six of their last six games as they headed to Leduc Friday for a match-up against the Co-op Riggers.
The game started well with the Icemen up two in the first period before the Riggers got on the board.
Wetaskiwin struggled in the second, giving Leduc a pair of goals to put the hosts ahead 3-2 going into the fin
