San Francisco on Wednesday unveiled a new tool that has helped significantly reduce property crime in the city.

The new Real Time Investigations Center, however, is raising privacy concerns because of its reliance on information obtained from camera technology. The center gives officers real time access to the city’s network of public safety cameras and license plate readers as well as live feeds from their drones.

Mayor Daniel Lurie along with the chief of police and other city officials announced the RTIC is now fully operational. They call the new facility a game changer and say it has already assisted in more than 800 arrests.
