(WFSB) - A Florida woman is facing charges after authorities say she continued collecting nearly $98,000 in pension payments meant for a Connecticut retiree who had died.
Christina Richards has been charged with first-degree larceny in connection with $97,671.42 in pension payments that continued flowing after a Connecticut retiree passed away in October 2021.
The case began when the Connecticut State Comptroller’s office discovered something was wrong. Monthly pension checks were still being sent to a Fort Pierce, Florida, home even though the retiree had died three years earlier. The money continued being deposited into the deceased woman’s bank account until officials stopped the payments in November 2024.
