The United Counties of Stormont Dundas and Glengarry council passed its 2026 budget on Tuesday, outlining $78.2 million in spending, which is a decrease of $9.2 million over the county’s 2025 budget.
For property owners in SDG, less spending won’t mean less taxation. SDG council has pegged its 2026 levy increase at 4.48 per cent for an average home worth $220,459. According to SDG administration, this works out to an added $66 for the year. The final tax rates are yet to be set pending assessment information from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation and bylaws to be approved by council.
