Longmont welcomed new faces to the dais Tuesday night as at-large Councilmembers Crystal Prieto and Jake Marsing were sworn in, Mayor Susie Hidalgo-Fahring took the oath for her new role, and the new council unanimously selected Councilmember Sean McCoy to serve as mayor pro tem.
Ward 2 Councilmember Matthew Popkin, who joined the council by appointment in January, also took his oath after joining the meeting virtually due to illness.
The council’s three departing members, Shiquita Yarbrough, Aren Rodriguez and outgoing Mayor Joan Peck reflected on their time in office. Yarbrough thanked city staffers for helping her find her footing on the job and said their patience carries each council through periods of transition.
She encouraged the new members to approach the work collaboratively.
