Aiden Markram’s superb century and brisk fifties from Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis powered South Africa to a four-wicket win over India in the second ODI on Wednesday, as the visitors chased down a daunting 359 to level the three-match series 1-1 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium.

India had earlier put up 358 for five, with centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Virat Kohli and an unbeaten fifty from KL Rahul. But Markram’s 110 off 98 balls held South Africa’s reply together, while Breetzke’s fluent 68 and Brevis’ forceful 54 kept the run rate healthy in dewy conditions. The visitors got home with four balls to spare.
