SUNBURY — The Northumberland County Housing Authority received a $73,644 boost to fight blight from the Register and Recorder’s office.
Northumberland County Register and Recorder Tina Mertz played a significant part in passage of a 2017 county ordinance that allowed a $15 fee to be collected on the recording of deeds and mortgages. The ordinance allows the register and recorder office to keep 5 percent of the fee to cover administrative costs, while the remaining amount is distributed to the authority annually to address blighted properties.
