To help fight crime and increase safety, while fostering community relationships, Chatham-Kent police continue to boost proactive measures, including downtown.
Chief Kirk Earley gave an update to municipal council Monday night, providing a rundown on current staffing and various initiatives, as well as future plans, including service enhancements.

Among these changes will include a dedicated foot patrol in downtown Chatham, with residents and businesses noting increasing concerns related to addictions, property crime and social calls.
“There has been an influx of people in the downtown core and they are causing issues. We are now putting a significant amount of resources downtown. We’ve increased patrols downtown on foot, (and in) vehicle,” Earley said.
