BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Five straight pins late in the match sealed Petrides’ PSAL 1A Staten Island/Brooklyn division season-opening victory over host Sunset Park, 51-24, on Tuesday.
“It was a great way to start the season coming off of a loss in last year’s city championship match vs Madison HS,” said Petrides head coach Dave Olah, a few days removed from his PSAL 1A city championship victory in football. “With a nice mix of veterans and newcomers to the lineup, it’ll be great to see where we are at the end of the season.”
Petrides got off to a hot start after Sara Romero received a forfeit at 103 pounds. The Panthers would rattle off three straight technical falls by sophomore Gio Molinare, senior Rocky Molinare and junior Bradley Munoz.
