GRAND RAPIDS — An immigrant from the Lansing area who was arrested in July by Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been released from custody, weeks after receiving a pardon from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, two Michigan lawmakers said.
Lue Yang, a Hmong refugeee who is an engineer and father of six and served as president of the Hmong Family Association of Lansing, arrived in Grand Rapids on Wednesday, Dec. 3, state Rep. Mai Xiong, D-Warren, said.
"I am grateful to welcome home Mr. Lue Yang, a long-time member of Michigan’s Hmong community, family man and relentless public servant who has dedicated his life to lifting up others," Xiong said in a statement.
