BUFFALO, N.Y. — The White House is releasing new details about “Trump Accounts,” a savings program that would provide federally backed investment accounts for children during President Trump’s second term.

President Trump described the initiative by saying, “Trump Accounts will be the first real trust funds for every American child, allowing family members, employers, corporations, generous donors to contribute money that will be invested and grow. ”

Under the plan, babies born during between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028, would automatically have an account opened, and receive a one-time $1,000 deposit from the federal government.

Local financial advisor Tony Ogorek of Ogorek Wealth Management says older children can participate as well, but without the initial contribution.
