AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced it permanently housed nearly 51,936 homeless veterans in the 2025 fiscal year.
The Amarillo VA helped provide housing for 171 veterans, an increase from 147 in 2024.
Some of its services include assisting homeless veterans in finding places to live and offering subsidies to make the housing more affordable.
It also says its case managers are vital to helping veterans get back on their feet once they find housing.
“It’s a challenge sometimes when they’re not used to paying rent every month. They’re not used to possibly working at the same time they’re trying to juggle all their bills and that type of thing. The social workers and the peer support, the nurse, everyone pulls together to help them stay housed,” said
