Martin O’Neill has revealed that Celtic left-back Marcelo Saracchi suffered a hamstring strain in the William Hill Premiership game against Dundee at Parkhead tonight and is set to be sidelined for several weeks as result.

The Uruguayan full-back, who has impressed since joining on loan from Boca Juniors in August, limped off just before half-time during the Northern Irishman’s final game in interim charge of the Glasgow club.

O’Neill - whose team, who have game in hand to play, won 1-0 to move level on points with leaders Hearts at the top of the table – confirmed after the final whistle that the defender is set to be sidelined for some time.
