Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)-State leaders visited Hamilton County this week to award eight local organizations with much-needed state funding to support recreational projects across the community.

More than $600,000 in new state grants—distributed through the Tennessee State Museum—will be shared among the selected groups. Each organization was recognized individually, with lawmakers highlighting how the funding will help preserve local history, support arts programming, and address long-standing facility needs.

Hunter Museum of American Art Executive Director Virginia Anne Sharber says the grant will make an immediate difference.

“We’re so thrilled to receive money from the Tennessee State Museum to help us repair two different rooms that we have at the museum that are leaking,” Sharber
