Eight Michigan communities from Houghton Lake to Holland to Detroit are forecast to see record-breaking cold this week. The high temperatures in Detroit and Grand Rapids are predicted to break daily records set in 1895 on Thursday, Dec. 4, according to forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
On Thursday, high temperatures of 22 in Detroit and 21 in Grand Rapids are forecast, both potentially breaking records set in 1895. Flint is expected to reach only 20 degrees the same day, which would break a 1935 record. And Battle Creek could erase a 1929 record with a predicted high of only 21 degrees.
