Eastern Kentucky disaster attorney appointed to national committee

(WYMT) - One Eastern Kentucky attorney who has helped hundreds of natural disaster survivors is taking her expertise to the national level.

Whitney Bailey, a disaster resource attorney for AppalRed Legal Aid, was recently appointed to serve a year-long term on the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, known as VOAD .

Bailey has assisted natural disaster survivors with legal issues following recent floods and tornadoes in Eastern Kentucky.

The committee’s purpose is to share knowledge and resources throughout the nation, Bailey said.

“And what can we do to keep survivors, disaster survivors, moving forward with whatever legal issues might pop up during a disaster, because of a disaster, or even years later, you are still a disaster survivor,” Bailey said.
