The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will hold a meeting on Wednesday night on a proposal to add bike lanes, more sidewalks and pedestrian crossings to Worcester’s Pleasant Street.
The proposal is worth nearly $4 million. And construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2026, according to MassDOT.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the West Tatnuck Elementary School, 300 Mower St.
The project centers around the construction of new five-foot-wide sidewalks where feasible and adding five-foot-wide bike lanes along the roadway.
The project also calls for the construction of additional pedestrian crossings across Pleasant Street with curb ramps at each intersection that are ADA-compliant. Existing sidewalks will be reconstructed, according to the project
