MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Students in Monroe City Schools will soon have new tools to help them make healthier choices and build resilience.
The district signed an agreement with Northeast Delta Human Services Authority on December 3 to launch two programs focused on substance abuse prevention and personal growth.
One initiative, called Catch My Breath, will roll out in the spring of 2026. Seventh and eighth graders will take weekly lessons during health class to learn why vaping is harmful and how to resist peer pressure.
Superintendent Sam Moore says the program addresses a growing concern. He explained that schools have seen an increase in vaping-related disciplinary issues, not just in Monroe but across the country. “It’s a problem we can’t ignore,” Moore said. “We want to give students
