The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) announced a delayed start for all of its 45 schools on Thursday a mid concerns of flooding rain.
The announcement comes as hundreds of schools have cancelled or delayed class this week amid winter storms and heavy snow. Many of the impacted schools were in the Northeast or Midwest, and more schools could announce closings or delays on Thursday morning amid cold temperatures and more snow.
The LPSS will be delaying its start times by 90 minutes on Thursday morning for all 45 schools because of rain. All of LPSS' more than 31,000 students will be impacted. Bus routes will also run 90 minutes later than normal.
