U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to either let the free trade deal with Canada and Mexico expire or pursue a different agreement on Wednesday. If the deal isn't renewed for another 16-year term, it could expire in 2036. Brad Wood, a senior director at the National Foreign Trade Council who's testifying at D.C. hearings on renewing the deal, says Trump is 'looking for concessions' and advises Canada to focus on making the renewal 'a win' for the president.
