TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Police announced Wednesday that a 19-year-old suspect in a deadly September hit-and-run was partying at a popular Tempe college bar minutes before the collision, and that link helped spark another raid at the bar weeks later.
Investigators said Ava Bellowe, an Arizona State University student, arrived at Tempe Tavern just after 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 13, left about 12:45 a.m. and walked home. She later got into her car.
Just before 1:30 a.m., an 18-year-old motorcyclist struck a Waymo self-driving car that had stopped for a person in the street, police said.
Seconds later, Bellowe, driving a Chevrolet Camaro, struck the motorcyclist and did not stop, police said. She turned herself in several hours later. She faces a felony charge of failing to stop at the scene of
