Gov. Kathy Hochul has a lot on her plate this month when it comes to decisions on whether to approve bills passed by the state Legislature.

The most complex and politically charged bills include a massive prison reform bill; the Medical Aid in Dying Act, which would allow doctors to prescribe life-ending medication to terminally ill patients under very strict conditions; and the Grieving Families Act, which would allow claims of grief and anguish to factor into wrongful death lawsuits.
