A Vancouver woman is accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars in rent payments.
Samantha Burris, 39, made her first appearance Tuesday in Clark County Superior Court on 81 counts of first-degree forgery and one count of first-degree theft.
Judge Christine Hayes ordered Burris be held on $20,000 bail and if released, to be under intensive supervision. On Wednesday, Burris was no longer listed on the Clark County Jail roster. She is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 8.
According to court records, on Aug. 4, an Affinity Property Management portfolio manager reported discrepancies found during an audit. She said she believed Burris, an employee, likely embezzled the funds, prompting a Vancouver police investigation.
