BUFFALO, N.Y. — North Buffalo is ready for the holiday season. The ninth annual Hertel Avenue tree lighting ceremony took place Friday at St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church.
The event started at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with a ceremony before lighting up the 35-foot tree.
The celebration featured appearances from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, hot chocolate for attendees, and a special performance by Buffalo Seminary. Organizers say the gathering has become a cherished neighborhood tradition that draws families and supports local commerce.
According to the Hertel Avenue Business Association, the event offers a significant boost to shops and restaurants along the commercial corridor.
Delaware District Common Council Member Joel Feroleto talked with 2 On Your Side about the economic importance of the fest
