FERGUS FALL, Minn. — She can tell you their names, where they went to college. And when some of them even passed away.

In Fergus Falls, a longtime school teacher, who got her start in a one-room school, is still in touch with her students from her time there in the 1950s.

A teacher never forgets. And a teacher never stops writing.

DiaAnn Juven Smidt, who just celebrated her 88th birthday, cozies up to her dining room table to write another note.

"The kids always called me Miss Juven, because that is what I was at the time," DiaAnn said.

Not a note to just any group of people. DiaAnn is still corresponding with students she taught in her one-room school near Carlisle, Minn., just north of Fergus Falls.
