SPRINGFDALE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A man who was charged after stealing hundreds of thousands from a man in Springdale Township walked away from an alternative housing facility last month after being released from jail.

Our news partners at the Trib reported Tuesday that Zhudi Chen, 40, who police accused of stealing more than $100,000, left the facility in Pittsburgh using a fourth-floor fire escape, according to authorities.

Police told the Trib that Chen remains at large.

Chen, who was arrested in October for defrauding a 76-year-old man out of $130,000, had been denied bail twice. The Trib said Chen has no connection to the area and had been living in New York.
