AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Park and Recreation Board has recommended the city council conduct a detailed review of a proposed lease agreement that would transfer zoo operations to a nonprofit organization.

Stephanie Brady, founder of Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation, presented her plan to create the Amarillo Zoo and Sanctuary nonprofit and take over operations from the city while leasing the land.

Brady outlined the shift to nonprofit status, first 12 months of upgrades and long-term goals during the parks board meeting.
