Friends surrounded family as churches opened their doors in Flower Mound on Wednesday, one day after a 14-year-old was hit and killed while walking home from school.

Tuesday, Flower Mound police say a driver stopped at a stop sign on Browning Road and Valley Ridge Boulevard hit Isha Mishra as she began crossing the street just a few blocks from home.

She was rushed to Medical City Denton Hospital, where she later died.

Wednesday, with loved ones crowding her home, her uncle Sambit Mishra told NBC 5 that they’re remembering her for her love of singing and dancing, a desire to learn sign language, and dreams of a career helping others.
