SALEM, Ala. (WTVM) - Lee County deputies found human remains in the front yard of a home on Lee Road 205 Tuesday morning during a welfare check.
The discovery was made around 8 a.m. near the four-way stop at the intersection of Lee Roads 240 and 179, according to Sheriff Jay Jones.
“The remains were in a condition where significant deterioration occurred,” Jones said. “An extended period of time which would indicate being out the weather for not just a few weeks or so.”
Family members of the homeowner requested the welfare check after not hearing from their loved one in several weeks. The home on Lee Road 205 is not visible from the roadway, Jones said, so neighbors driving by would not have noticed.
