Odisha received the national award for Best State/UT in Effective Implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, at the National Awards Ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. President Droupadi Murmu conferred awards on individuals and institutions contributing to the empowerment of persons with disabilities. Odisha’s Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Bratati Harichandan, accepted the award on behalf of the state. Odisha was recognised for its notable initiatives in strengthening rights, inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
