As temperatures drop into the teens on Wednesday night, warming shelters in Colorado Springs are bracing for increased demand, according to Hope COS leaders.
One such shelter is located inside the Sanctuary Church in Old Colorado City, near Colorado Avenue and 21st Street.
Shelter staff mentioned that Wednesday night’s cold could be hazardous for those unable to stay warm.
The shelter welcomes individuals who have run out of options, whether they are between homes, new to town, or just in need of assistance for the night.
Hope COS leaders stated that they open warming shelters when temperatures reach levels that can cause injury or hypothermia.
