On the football field, South Adams senior Tyrus Lehman is a flamethrower.
Lehman was among the most prolific passers in the state with 3,362 yards and 38 touchdown passes in the Starfires’ run to the Class 1A semistate. His play on the field, plus a membership to the National Honor Society, would probably open the door to play college football.
If he chose to.
But that’s not the future he envisions for himself. In an ideal world, Lehman wants basketball to be what takes him to the next level.
“It’s always been my favorite sport,” Lehman said. “Not to say I didn’t love football. I did, but I think basketball has always just been my comfort. It’s been what I get the most joy out of in sports. Our family’s big into basketball.”
