KL Rahul threw his weight behind India’s bowlers after they failed to defend 359 against South Africa, suffering a four-wicket defeat in the second ODI held in Raipur on Wednesday. While the stand-in India skipper admitted there are a few areas that could be worked upon, he did list several reasons that compounded India’s challenge, including the dew, which makes it difficult for the bowlers to grip the ball.

Additionally, there was the little matter of India losing a record 20th toss in a row in ODIs. Rahul, in jest, took responsibility for failing to win the toss, which meant South Africa, for the second time in the ongoing three-match ODI series, expectedly opted to bowl first with an aim to take advantage of the dew later in the night.
