SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - It’s just another reason to double-check your personal property tax statement, especially if you drive a newer car.

We’re talking about that bill from your county collector. That’s due at the end of the year. A taxpayer in Greene County noticed his vehicle’s assessed value was higher this year than last, resulting in a higher tax bill.

How can that be? That’s when he emailed On Your Side.

Randal Hankins drives a 2023 GMC Yukon. Last year, on his 2024 tax statement, the assessed value was $13,920, making his tax bill for this vehicle $732.91.

A few weeks ago, he got his 2025 statement. The value went up. “This Yukon was valued at $6,000 more on the assessment than what it was last year. I don’t know why,” said Hankins.
