The University of La Verne women’s volleyball is two wins away from claiming another NCAA Division III national championship.
Mya Ray registered a match-high 27 kills, and the Leopards once again demonstrated their prowess at the net with 15 block in their 25-19, 25-20, 13-25, 25-18 victory over Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a quarterfinal match Wednesday night in Bloomington, Ill.
La Verne advanced to the Division III semifinals for the first time since 2008, when the Leopards finished as national runner-up. No. 5-seeded La Verne (29-2) will face No. 8-seeded Berry (28-7) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. PST. Berry knocked off top-seeded East Texas Baptist in another quarterfinal match Wednesday evening, handing the Tigers their first loss in 35 matches this year.
