The Indian junior women’s hockey team succumbed to a 1-3 defeat against Germany in their second match of the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup on Wednesday.

Germany netted through Lena Frerichs, Annika Schönhoff, and Martina Reisenegger, while Hina Bano netted India’s consolation.

The match started with high intensity, as both teams sought to dominate early on. Germany’s high pressing pushed India back, leading to a penalty stroke in the fifth minute. Lena Frerichs (5′) successfully converted it, giving Germany a 1-0 lead.

Despite the early setback, India gradually found their rhythm and began creating opportunities but failed to equalize in the first quarter.
