New Delhi: India is moving towards a new historic phase to reintroduce the cheetah to its natural habitats, as continuous progress has been recorded in the cheetah’s population growth, habitat expansion, and international partnerships. India’s ambitious efforts for cheetahs have been commendable in recent times.

A total of 20 cheetahs were introduced into Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, including eight from Namibia in September 2022 and 12 from South Africa in February 2023.

When the cheetahs were reintroduced in India, several people doubted it, but now, after the aggregate of 32 cheetahs has been calculated as of December 2025. India sustains a thriving population of cheetahs, where 21 are the Indian-born cubs.
