Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a disproportionate assets case filed against him in June.

Majithia, a three-time MLA from Majitha and former Punjab minister, was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on June 25 from his Amritsar residence following raids at over two dozen locations.

The First Information Report, registered under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, accuses him of amassing assets, including benami properties, luxury cars, and unexplained cash deposits exceeding Rs 700 crore, disproportionate to his known income sources during his 2007-2017 ministerial tenure.
