Failed asylum seekers awaiting deportation are being offered spa days, bingo nights, manicures, pedicures, massage sessions and five-a-side football tournaments at a Scottish immigration removal centre, a new official report has disclosed.

HM Chief Inspector of Prisons carried out an unannounced inspection of Dungavel House Immigration Removal Centre – Scotland ’s only detention facility – between August 18–21 and September 1-4 2025. The report, authored by Chief Inspector of Prisons Charlie Taylor, was published on December 1, 2025.
