Former Meghalaya Chief Minister and TMC Legislature Party Leader, Dr Mukul Sangma has dismissed the recently proposed “One North East” initiative, calling it nothing more than a repackaging of existing political equations in the region.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Sangma emphasized that the proposed new regional configuration, which involves Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma of the NPP and TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, was not a novel development. “It’s nothing new. They have been together already,” he remarked, adding that such alliances reflect long-standing political collaborations in the Northeast.
